Why do we do this? Postmodern man of our time has lost a sense of history and meaningful story, whatever the story might be. We are in fact as human beings on this planet living out a grand historical drama, and it is the idea of that fact that is so important to catch on to, whatever that drama might be. For Augustine it is the story of the unfolding of the City of God thru time with God’s interaction with mankind. For the modern humanist of the 1920s and 1930s, it is the culmination of man’s knowledge in modern humanism in those very decades. For the 18th century Enlightenment, it is the triumph of Reason in that century. For the postmodern humanist of the 1940s and 1960s, it is the culmination of ultimate irrationality and even absurdity in those decades in what was seen to be the failure of 18th century Reason. For the postmodernist all life and all history are a meaningless "tale told by an idiot full of sound and fury signifying nothing," as Shakespeare had said centuries earlier. The radical multicultural story of the postmodernist is "there is no story," but that is, in fact, his story of "no-story"! For the American founders the story is we finally did it! Established a nation on "the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God." In short, there is a story to history, and it varies with each worldview. For Marx it is the story of the Revolution for the utopian workers’ state, while for Lenin everything culminates in "the dictatorship of the proletariat," etc. However, the book of Revelation is unique and uncanny as historical stories go. It purports to be, in fact, the story of Christ’s triumph over the forces of evil and tyranny, over Satan himself, no less, in order to establish just and righteous nations on earth, and it is a story told in advance, hard as that is to grasp, and all within the larger cosmological story and plans of God for the entire Creation for all time, no small matter obviously, and it is generally held to be told from the vantage point of about 95 AD in John’s visions and in Jesus’ talking to John, though even this point of dating the writing is debated by some. Further, the symbolism is actually often quite complex and can be subject to various interpretations, but the main story lines are for their part often fairly clear... as we will see... in this video miniseries on Revelation. -------------------------------------------------- ========================================================

The New Testament: Jesus, the Anointed One, walked out of the grave; now, once again, considered to be a "reasonable" fact of history, as it was in the West from the time of Augustine (d. 430 AD) to the 18th century and the so-called "Enlightenment." Not on board with this? Are you an eminent humanist historian? Almost certainly not! You probably are not even a non-eminent historian, humanist or otherwise! Your opinion as a non-believer, in the bigger scope of things, just doesn't count, sorry. The Christian cosmology from the Creation to the Final Judgment stands once again as a knowledge claim and will probably do so for the next 1000 years, but to be honest none of us mere mortals, here for a few years on this piece of dirt flying thru space, can get our minds around all of this! So, it is easy not to believe; still, here we are! (And we have no idea how we got here, nor how the universe got here!) So, the Gospel will now spread, presumably, throughout the globe!!! The "Enemy" is not the non-believer, or so-called "infidel"! (The Muslim is so wrong!) "The Enemy" is "the Devil"!!! And, of course, his gang of rebellious demons, presumably, soon to be bound for 1000 years with the triumphant spread of the "Good News" of the Gospel throughout the world! No more darkness, deception (false light), and depravity of open immorality as "good"! People are not the enemy! People throughout the world are the victims of the Devil and his gang; and they are to be delivered from his demonic darkness, deception, and depravity, by the true Light of the Gospel! The New Testament is the foundation of that story of such deliverance and of this prophecy concerning all history! ---------------

Please note: So-called "spiritual warfare" is not "physical warfare"! Spiritual warfare is "casting down every argument... that would exalt itself against a knowledge of God" and especially every foolish argument of our imaginations, I think one could add!!! (See 2 Corinthians 10:5 ) Not very complicated? Pretty straightforward, really? And such foolish thinking is said to be, in some cases, of the demonic, or to be "doctrines of demons," no less (see 1 Timothy 4:1). The demonic, as such, is spiritual, clearly. However, physical warfare can reflect spiritual or demonic warfare, since false ideologies can actually wage physical warfare. ----------------------- "Comfort ye my people. . . Cry unto her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned." Handel -------------- Clearly, it is "the end of the world" of the up-side-down when things are turned right-side-up. . . . But . . . What is "up to speed," really, in this often up-side-down world? And . . .
